Afternoon Tea at The Drake

If you know me, you know afternoon tea is my jam. Coffee is pretty great but there’s no better feeling then sipping a literal hug in a cup. The Drake is a spectacular place to have afternoon tea. This place 100% ranks among my top five tea spots in Chicago. The venue itself is stunning and the service is always fantastic. I would try to score a table right next to the fountain and harpist. The tea service was nothing short of lovely. From the buttery scones to the delicious macrons and decadent cakes. This is the perfect spot to catch up with your friends, take your grandma to relax or spend a chill afternoon by yourself. The tea selections were divine. A few of my favorites included: Paris for Her, Darjeeling Maragret’s Hope, Chai Imperial, Jasmine Chun Fang, Garden of Dreams, Melange Du Cap. You can pop in for a pot or two or decide to entertain an afternoon tea service. The best part of my experiences were when the harpist was playing, which usually only happens on the weekends. I highly recommend you make a reservation if you want a front row seat. I love how the harpist played everything from One Republic, Fall Out Boy and Coldplay, to Game of Thrones. I would honestly come back for the butter, jam and scones alone; they were so damn good. I can’t think of anything more perfect then an afternoon spent at The Drake sipping tea and enjoying the sweet sounds of a harpist.
